SmartStream is a premier fintech company delivering high-quality financial software to the world's leading banks, a global team of 1,200+ whose solutions span corporate actions, advanced reconciliations that mitigate risk, and cash & liquidity management built for regulatory compliance.
Working closely with product and development teams, I helped enhance workflows across the latest products, pairing a modern, visually appealing design with an intuitive interface that makes fintech users' daily tasks easier and more enjoyable.
The goal was to make platforms that not only meet users' functional needs but also feel productive and satisfying to use day-to-day. My contributions ran from daily collaboration with product owners and managers, ensuring briefs were met within the project's goals and pipeline, to iterating designs with the squad across QA, development and product.
To evaluate the effectiveness of every change, we registered user feedback in Dovetail and examined both what worked and what could be adjusted.

Initiated by Elena Savitskaya (Director of UX & Design), the design system delivered remarkable results: a 543% increase in productivity and over £6.3M in cost savings, alongside stronger brand coherence across every product. One standout, the Air product, which runs fully on the system, received a Red Dot Award.
My role was to build on those achievements and champion the system internally, understanding the needs of end users, developers and designers alike. Through a thorough audit and cross-functional collaboration, we standardised our designs to keep the system effective and accessible. With Paulina Serwinska, I helped refine and evolve it through weekly Design System calls reviewing components, adjustments and new product requirements.

Our user research combined UX interviews, written feedback, surveys and competitor analysis to capture diverse perspectives. We stored every finding in a dedicated Dovetail repository, effectively a search engine for customer feedback, using advanced search, customisable reports, data visualisation and integrations to turn qualitative and quantitative signal into informed decisions, all built to scale with our growing research needs.
