Overview

Blockasset creates a unique ecosystem where sports fans engage with their favourite athletes through blockchain, fan tokens for voting and exclusive content, athlete-minted NFTs, and a marketplace for sports memorabilia and digital assets.

The aim: enhance fan engagement and provide new revenue streams for athletes, with social integrations, live events and exclusive content driving deeper interaction.

Goal & contributions

Eliminate the jargon, reach the wider fanbase.

Cryptocurrency isn't easy to understand, so the goal was to strip out the jargon and simplify it to reach a wider audience of sports lovers. I conducted user research, developed personas, and designed intuitive interfaces with clear information architecture and interactive elements, ensuring accessibility and usability through testing and best practice, with a consistent, appealing visual design.

It started with brand alignment, new guidelines for colour, typography and visual elements, then a design style guide for site-wide consistency, before redesigning the layout to reflect the brand and adding animation and graphics that lift the experience without hurting performance.

Research

Designing in the open, with the community.

To make sure the platform met real needs, we ran frequent AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions on Discord, open dialogue that built trust, regular scheduling that kept communication consistent, and meticulous feedback collection organised into themes and specific issues.

That feedback fed straight into the roadmap: minor issues fixed immediately, complex ones planned in. The community felt heard, driving loyalty and active participation, and a cycle of continuous improvement shaped directly by users.

Planning and solving user frustrations board

Mapping user frustrations and flows from Discord AMAs, the stickies that shaped the roadmap.
